ABOUT US
GSSF is a 501(c)(3)not
for profit operating foundation, incorporated in the state
of Minnesota. It is organized and operated exclusively
for charitable purposes. More specifically, the
Foundation assists young adults and adults as individuals in reaching their full
potential and capabilities through a variety of educational
and life coaching programs. The principal activity of
the Foundation is to provide coaching services and resources to participants.
We do this through in person workshops, as well telephone
seminars and one to one coaching. The use of the
internet allows us to be a virtual organization while
serving clients from all over the United States. See
also www.LifesHeadwaters.org.

We believe we bridge the gap
for those who are willing to work hard and take the
actions necessary to affect a meaningful life transition.
We understand and came to serve those who are ready, willing
and able.
Our programs and services are provided on a charitable basis.
Our clients desire change and seek assistance and
accountability for that change in their lives. We
prefer to see our organization as one that assists people in
"learning how to fish" or make their way successfully in
life with intent, rather than "handing out fish."

The Gary
S. Stevens Foundation (GSSF) mission is to help people (aged
16+) successfully navigate life transitions. The GSSF facilitates
and educates others in their unique and personal transition processes through:
-
scheduled individual and group coaching sessions
-
tele-seminars
built on coaching frameworks
-
web technology instruments
-
training non coaches on
coaching skills in
class rooms/workshop education
-
peer to peer youth based
coach skills training
-
public speaking as
a public service
-
web-based education
-
alliances with other non
profits to provide coaching services or speakers to
benefit their organizational client goals
These experiences will help our clients
consciously set and achieve goals,
improve themselves; therein, have a positive impact on their families and communities.

Professional coaches provide
an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce
fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives.
Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance
the quality of their lives.
Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize
their approach to individual client needs. They seek to
educate clients by eliciting solutions and strategies from the client; they
believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful.
Coaching is NOT therapy or counseling. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills,
resources, and creativity that the client already has. GSSF coaches are all
graduates of accredited and esteemed coaching schools and
have 250 or more hours spent actually coaching others
professionally. All coach volunteers agree to the code
of ethics of the International Coach Federation, the professional association of personal and
business coaches that seeks to preserve the integrity of coaching around the globe.

GSSF
is a 501(c)(3)
not for profit operating foundation, approved for exemption
by the IRS. We incorporated in 2004 in the
state of Minnesota as a non profit organization. Our
initial choice was to operate
as a relatively virtual organization, using leading edge technology
to keep our overhead costs low and deliver maximum benefit to our clients. The efficient
design of our business also allows us to invest in the quality of our products and services; they are on par with those delivered by the world's leading business and non-profit organizations.
In late 2006 we will be able to remain virtual in service as
well as grounded in a bricks and mortar location in South
Minneapolis, MN.
Our clients need us to be responsive and available. We meet these requirements by making our services and tools available 24/7 on the web
and at convenient times via our telecommunication network.
Through the use of the world wide web and the telephone, we
deliver our services and information. Through our web
site
www.LifesHeadwaters.org we handle inquiries, register and communicate with
clients participating in coaching programs,
educate, offer customized information for subscribers,
create and take surveys to
assist in directing our programs, publish our working
schedules and calendars, gain volunteers, as well as provide
links to other resources that may be of interest to general
web surfers. We also offer services through in
person and over the telephone.
The GSSF does not offer grants and
currently relies on its original contribution, its investment
earnings and the volunteers who assist us conduct this work.
We do accept unsolicited donations and as we grow will
provide funding sponsorship opportunities as well as seek
grants to continue to fulfill our mission.
(please contact us for more
information)
The Gary S. Stevens Foundation is governed and directed by a Board of Directors. Mr.
Stevens is the President of the Board of Directors.
A volunteer advisory panel of experts across many fields
also assists the Foundation in reviewing program and service
offerings. A small staff led by
Executive Director and CEC Cynthia Liggett
is employed by the
Foundation. Our primary work force of professional and
accredited coaches volunteer from all over the United
States. They assist us in delivering this work to our clients as
well as the clients of the alliances formed with other non
profits.
The Foundation is a member of the
MN Council of Non-Profits, the
International Coach Federation and a
Guidestar participant.
